Founder & President, The PTFI®

Dr. Albert Premkumar. V is the visionary founder and pioneer of Para Throwball, a sport he created to provide athletes with disabilities a dynamic and inclusive competitive platform. His leadership has seen the sport evolve from a local invention to an internationally recognized discipline in just a few short years.

The Invention & National Growth
  • 2019 Dr. Albert Premkumar. V officially invented Para Throwball in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
  • 2021 Established the Para Throwball Federation of India (PTFI) to provide a formal structure for the sport.
  • 2022 Assumed the role of President of the PTFI & Released the Rules and Regulation book of Para Throwball.
  • Impact Under his guidance, the federation has successfully conducted four National Championships and four South Zone Championships, building a robust talent pipeline across India.
International Expansion

Dr. Albert Premkumar's mission to globalize the sport led him to personally introduce Para Throwball to several nations, including:

  • South & Southeast Asia Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Bangladesh.
  • East Asia China.
Global Leadership: World Para Throwball Federation (WPTF)

In 2024, Dr. Albert Premkumar founded the World Para Throwball Federation (WPTF) to oversee the sport's global governance. The current leadership includes:

  • President Mrs. Nirmala Rawat (India)
  • Chairman H.E. Mr. Yi Veasna (NPC Cambodia)
  • General Secretary Dr. V. Albert Premkumar (India)
  • Joint Secretary First Admiral Dato, Subramaniam Raman Nair (NPC SG Malaysia)
  • Status Today, the WPTF boasts 22 affiliated countries, reflecting the sport's rapid global adoption.
Major Milestones

The sport reached a historic pinnacle with the hosting of the 1st Asian Para Throwball Games, held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on March 28th and 29th, 2025. This event solidified Para Throwball's status as a premier competitive sport in the Asian Paralympic circuit.

The Para Throwball Federation of India (PTFI) is a premier national sports body dedicated to the promotion, development, and professional management of Para Throwball across the country.

Founded in 2021 by Dr. V. Albert Premkumar, the federation was established with a vision to empower para-athletes and provide a structured platform for them to showcase their talent on both national and international stages.

We are committed to identifying raw talent at the grassroots level and providing world-class training, officiating, and competition opportunities. By fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and resilience, PTFI aims to make Para Throwball one of the leading para-sports in the region.
